Leg 4, Cocoa to Daytona

The one and only cape rounding of this race involves the difficult to see warning buoys off of Cape Canaveral. NASA prohibits anyone from passing within three nautical miles to the shore of Cape Canaveral, and several times in the past, a representative from the military has come to brief the competitors on the repercussions of violating that boundary. Needless to say, sailors pay close attention to their GPS units on this leg, and don't get inside the warning buoys. There are also sandbars that cause breaking waves far off the Cape, they can be run into if the teams are not paying close attention.
