The Tybee Admin team has gotten a couple questions about locator beacons and the SPOT GPS trackers.  Teams should keep in mind that a SPOT GPS tracker does not replace a locator beacon - they don't serve the same function.  Teams competing in the 2010 event will still need to carry one properly registered 406 MHz locator beacon on each crew member.  These devices are designed to lead search and rescue personnel directly to the sailor, not the boat.  Please don't compromise your personal safety offshore - carry a functioning locator beacon.
